The awards program was created by the National Restaurant Association, based in Washington, D.C., to honor restaurants' commitment to community service and innovative community projects and to underscore that restaurants truly are the cornerstone of local communities. OriginIndia is competing with winners from other states for the national award to be presented in September. Other Nevada state winners include Memphis BBQ in the medium business category and Atlantis in the large business category.
OriginIndia, which was voted "Best Indian Restaurant" by the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2007 as well as rated excellent by the 2008 Zagat Guide, supports communities through a variety of projects. The restaurant gave all donations from its second anniversary celebration to Safe Nest, which is a local shelter for abused women and children. OriginIndia also held a very successful fundraiser for the Myanmar/Burma Relief Fund, where $1 from every check for one month was donated to the cause. In addition, the restaurant was involved in Taste of the Nation 2007 and Aviation Nation 2007, which "was a wonderful opportunity for the restaurant industry to celebrate servicemen and women," says Majid. "I feel blessed in my life, and by giving a portion back to my community, I hope to help the less fortunate."

The restaurant also recently hosted the ProStart® Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, durin¬g which teachers were given a back-of-the-house tour.

All proceeds will be donated to Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation. This charity supports the children living at Child Haven, Clark County's refuge for abused, abandoned and neglected children. Raja Majid and OriginIndia will attend their events and donate money for their scholarship programs. Through the Eyes of a Child's events are in place to allow as many as 175 children hours of fun. Some of whom may not have ever experienced a safe environment that allows them to connect with an adult with no agenda other than to make sure they have a positive experience. For the Holidays, a Christmas tree will be placed in the restaurant where OriginIndia staff and customers may bring in toys or money to donate to the children, and as ornaments, write their names of little wooden angles. We will personally deliver all the toys to the children at their Christmas event.

MGM Grand unveiled Wet Republic on April 10th. It's a
53,000-square-foot ULTRA POOL combining a nightlife vibe with poolside
pampering and relaxation. The Grand Opening is set for April 25th.
An adults-only mecca, Wet Republic features two saltwater pools. They are the only ones on the Las Vegas Strip. These spectacular pools measure 2,500 and 3,500 square feet. Bellagio Sets World Record as the First to Have Four Master Sommeliers at One Property

Bellagio recently announced the induction of Joseph Phillips of Sensi into the Court of Master Sommeliers. Phillips becomes the fourth member of Bellagio’s already impressive team of Master Sommeliers. He joins Robert Smith of Picasso, Jason Smith of MICHAEL MINA Bellagio, and Bellagio's Director of Wine Robert Bigelow.

This honor establishes the record for the most Master Sommeliers at a single property anywhere in the world. Home to a record 18 sommeliers, four of whom are female, Bellagio has become a place where aspiring sommeliers become masters. Comedian Roseanne Barr Performs at The Sahara
Emmy award-winning comedian Roseanne Barr brings her everyday humor and observations to the Sahara Hotel and Casino.
Roseanne is performing in the Sahara’s legendary Congo Room, a 520-capacity entertainment venue. Following a move to Los Angeles in 1983 to pursue stand-up comedy, Barr was extremely successful, landing her first television appearance on the Johnny Carson Show in 1985. Little did she know that more than 20 years later fate would bring her to the Sahara’s Congo Room, where Carson himself once performed.
Barr’s namesake television show ran for nine seasons. She picked up four Emmys, two Golden Globes, six People’s Choice Awards, and many other accolades.

Roseanne is performing in the Sahara’s legendary Congo Room, a 520-capacity entertainment venue. Following a move to Los Angeles in 1983 to pursue stand-up comedy, Barr was extremely successful, landing her first television appearance on the Johnny Carson Show in 1985. Little did she know that more than 20 years later fate would bring her to the Sahara’s Congo Room, where Carson himself once performed.
Barr’s namesake television show ran for nine seasons. She picked up four Emmys, two Golden Globes, six People’s Choice Awards, and many other accolades.

Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel Aquired by TLC Casino Enterprises
TLC Casino Enterprises has expanded its operations by assuming ownership of one of the most storied Las Vegas casinos, Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel.
The purchase of Binion’s marks the second time in five years that TLC Casino Enterprises has bought a Las Vegas casino. The company purchased The Four Queens Hotel & Casino in 2003. Within the property itself, TLC Casino Enterprises will enact several initiatives immediately.
All remaining coin-operated slot and video poker machines will be converted to ticket-in,-ticket-out technology and the casino floor will be reconfigured to improve customer flow throughout the property. In addition, the hotel rooms and several public areas will be remodeled.

McCarran Airport Sets Record of 47.7 Million Travelers
McCarran Airport hosted a record 47.7 million travelers in 2007. That was a 3.1 percent increase from 2006. The arrivals and departures from McCarran Airport increased from the previous annual traffic record of 46.2 million in 2006.
Lake Las Vegas Ownership Shifts to the Atalon Group
The Atalon Group, through a subsidiary, has acquired 100 percent of the ownership interests in Lake Las Vegas, the 3,592-acre destination resort community 17 miles from the Las Vegas strip. Atalon assumed ownership effective January 2, 2008.
The acquired assets include three existing golf courses, an interest in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, about 400 acres of undeveloped lands in Phase III, a proposed golf course and several operating businesses such as Como's Restaurant.
Founded two decades ago, Lake Las Vegas is nationally known as a destination resort with four luxury hotels, three championship golf courses, a shopping village, casino, marina and 1,500 homes. A 320-acre man made lake is the centerpiece of the community that is surrounded by thousands of acres of public lands.
